The Minister of Labor and Social Welfare hosted today a delegation from the United States Government

The Minister of Labor and Social Welfare hosted today a delegation from the United States Government, including International Labor Relations Analyst Mrs. Teodora Mladenovic and representatives of the US Embassy.

In this meeting were discussed about the protection of children from trafficking and elimination of child labor, in particular dangerous forms of labor.

Minister Mr. Reçica informed Mrs. Mladenovic about the situation and the concrete actions that are being taken regarding the elimination of child labor. He said: “The draft law on children’s rights and protection has passed in first reading in Parliament and I hope it will soon be in second reading.” However, despite this draft law, MLSW is undertaking concrete actions with other relevant institutions to address this problem.

Mrs. Mladenovic thanked Minister Mr. Reçica for the separate information regarding the actions being taken on this issue and requested that the Draft Law on the Rights and Protection of Children be adopted in parliament as it is an important law.

She stressed that the US Department of Labor is interested in assisting Kosovo institutions regarding MLSW actions, with concrete projects addressing the issue of protecting children from trafficking and eliminating heavy work in children.

Minister Mr. Reçica and Mrs. Mladenovic agreed on further cooperation between the MLSW and the US State Department of Labor.
