Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Mr. Arban Abrashi accompanied by his associates, today held a meeting with the Council of Europe delegation led by Nils Muiznieks, the Commissioner for the Human Rights at this Institution. After congratulatory of welcoming the Minister Mr. Abrashi informed the participants on key aspects of the social and economic situation in Kosovo, standards, services and key policies and development that provides MLSW.
As the current topics for Kosovo, about which were interested delegation from the Council of Europe, the question of repatriated persons, internally displaced persons, social schemes and pension for vulnerable groups, particularly those with an emphasis on the categories as Rom, Ashkali and Egyptians, schemes categories of war, etc. Minister also informed the guests on the program “Exit from social” initiated by him through which aims the employment of people on social assistance.
During the meeting, Minister Mr. Abrashi submitted the issue of victims of sexual violence in the last war in Kosovo, emphasizing its willingness and commitment that these victims are treated with dignity through institutional care. Mr. Abrashi stressed that the process is moving forward around saying it expects to survivors of such violence be compensated start as early as this year.
Meanwhile, the leader of the delegation from Strasbourg, Commissioner Muižnieks split quite pleased by what was presented at the meeting by informing the Minister Mr. Abrashi for the purpose of visit of the delegation of the Council of Europe, which is mainly focused on transitional justice and freedom of media in Kosovo.
