The Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Mr. Arban Abrashi, with mothers occasion of 8 March, today visited the “Centre for Maternal and Child Care ‘in Pristina. He met with the Leader of this center Mrs. Flora Brovina and staff that cares and manages the institution, the only one that deals with the care of orphans and rehabilitation of women raped during the last war in Kosovo.
Minister Mr. Abrashi was announced closely with the state and the conditions faced by the Center. They informed Mr. Abrashi, this center operates in extremely heavy, and besides a modest international support, until now has not any institutional support.
Mr. Abrashi thanked for the reception and pledged to explore possibilities to provide support from MLSW, as the staff of the Centre, as well as the status and persons covered by this rehabilitation center.
Minister Mr. Abrashi, informed them about the process that is being finalized for compensation of war rape victims. “Technical and legal preparations are in the final stage and within a short time we will begin accepting applications before the rehabilitation of this category very humble in the last war in Kosovo”, said minister Mr. Abrashi.
On the occasion of this visit, children housed in this center gave a modest artistic program, in honor of the international holiday of mothers, 8 March.
