Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Mr. Skender Reçica last week was on an official visit to the United States where he held several important meetings.
The minister was received in a meeting at the US State Department Accompanied by the Kosovo Ambassador to the US, Mrs. Vlora Çitaku, Minister Mr. Reçica met with Mr. Paul Pfeuffer from the Central and Southern Europe Affairs Office.
The meeting discussed the challenges faced by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, especially about unemployment and family and social services.
At the meeting were discussed and evaluated the actions on the reforms undertaken by the MLSW, the completion of the legal infrastructure and the start of their implementation, as well as the fulfillment of SAA obligations.
Interlocutors also talked about political developments in Kosovo. During his stay in the US, Minister Mr. Reçica also held a meeting with Mr. Kevin Willcutts of the State Department of Labor.
The topic of discussion was heavy work on children, especially the bad forms of child labor, as the minister pointed to the challenges Kosovo faces in these areas.
The State Department of Labor pledged to support Kosovo through forms of co-operation such as Training for Labor Inspectorate, Centers for Social Work, Police and other bodies, with the purpose of preventing and even treating the serious work of children as well as those about trafficking.
