The process of identifying and verifying victims of sexual violence during the war has begins

The government commission for verifying the status of victims of sexual violance during the recent war in Kosova will start addressing the first applications on February 5’th of this year, the day when the application process is officially started.
This was announced today during the launch of the process of recognizing and verifying the status of victims of sexuale violance during the war, attended by senior state representatives, ambassadors of foreign states in Republic of Kosova and representatives of civil society.
Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Skender Reçica, during his speech said that since the early days of the mandate he was committed to pushing ahead of this very important process which is crowned with the start of state treatment against this category. “To come here we have taken a number of decisions and activities that have not been undertaken over the years. With the recognition of the status of persons abused during the war and the realization of the right to personal pension, we can not say that we have completed our mission, we must further engage in providing this category with the provision of proper health care , to be offered employment and vocational training, quality education and rehabilitation for all those in need “, said Minister Reçica.
Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said that  institutions  of the Republic of Kosova have done a good job recognizing the rights of victims of sexual violence during the war. “The hardest part is that it has started, that of recognizing and verifying survivors of violence. In this process it is not enough just the work of the Government, we must all commit this part of our society to enjoy this absent and silent right for many years, “said Prime Minister Haradinaj.
In November last year, a draft decision was submitted by the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Skender Reçica, for determining the amount of pension for victims of sexual violence of the recent Kosovo war in the amount of 230 euros. On the same day, it was decided to establish the Secretariat of the Government Commission for the recognition and verification of the status of victims of the sexual violance during the las war.
