Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Skender Reçica, is staying on an official visit to the state of Malta, where he is holding important meetings with senior state representatives of this country.
Today, during the day, Minister Reçica met with the President of Malta, Mrs. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, with who talked about bilateral relations between the Republic of Kosova and Malta. Minister Reçica thanked the president for the support that the state of Malta has given to the Republic of Kosova, from the date of recognition of independence, and thereafter.
The Minister and the President agreed to intensify the relations between the two friendly countries, and on this occasion, the President of Malta emphasized that apart from the diplomatic support and the European integration process, they are interested in helping the Republic of Kosova also in terms of economic development.
Today, Minister Reçica held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Family, Children's Rights and Social Solidarity, Mr. Michael Falzon, during which they agreed on closer cooperation between the two countries. Minister Falzon stressed that Malta has an advanced system of social services and social security, and in this regard, the state of Malta can help exchange experiences with the state of Kosova.
Minister Reçica, addressed today's addressees on the second day of the high level conference on the Universal Prohibition of Corporal Punishment of Children. The Minister spoke on children's rights in Republic of Kosova, the legislation regulating their rights, as well as the initiative for the law on the protection of children's rights, as well as the inclusion of special provisions for stopping corporal punishment of children in this law.
This conference was represented by many countries of the world and all pledged to raise the awareness of society that corporal punishment of children is not education and it must be eliminated.
